Are Roman Catholics Christians or Heretics? Part 7 - A Different Path to Eternity

Updated: Aug 19

This is the seventh part in a seven-part series entitled, ARE ROMAN CATHOLICS CHRISTIANS OR HERETICS. There are seven (7) major differences between Roman Catholic Doctrine and Christianity. They are a different Church, Authority, Jesus, Gospel, Mary, View of Sin, and a different Path to Eternity.

Christians and Catholics Have a Different Path to Eternity

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is narrow and the way is constricted that leads to life, and there are few who find it. “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves" (Matthew 7:13-15).

Narrow Way Is Hard

CHRISTIANITY IS NARROW WAY

CATHOLICISM IS WIDE PATH

“Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able" (Luke 13:24).

It seems right to man, but its end is the way of death (Proverbs 14:12)

They must be stripped of self-righteousness, sin and death.

There is no opposition because they are walking with the god of this world

(2 Corinthians 4:4).

They must exchange religion (man made, works salvation) for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Galatians 2:20).

It is the easy way because they are following others who love darkness and are blind to the truth (Romans 1:18-23)

They must trust solely in grace and what Jesus has done.

They are deceived because they have a high view of self and a low view of God and His Justice.

Jesus is the only way, only, truth, and the only way to the Father in Heaven (John 14:6).

Few will find the narrow way of Christ or even look for it because they are happy or content where they are.

Few find the way that leads to life.

Many enter through the broad way.

Leads to Eternal Life in Heaven.

Leads to destruction, Hell not purgatory.

Good Fruit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Bad Fruit being church control, the pope as head of the church, work or merit salvation, worship of Mary, indulgences, purgatory, etc.

Two Foundations

CHRISTIAN FOUNDATION IS JESUS

ROMAN CATHOLIC FOUNDATION

IS CHURCH

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock (Matt 7:24-25).

"And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house, and it fell—and its collapse was great" (Matthew 7:26-27).

Two Destinies

FATHER'S HOUSE

LAKE OF FIRE

Roman Catholic Road to Purgatory and Hell

ROMAN CATHOLIC ROAD TO HELL

CHRISTIAN ROAD TO HEAVEN

Wide Road and Gate

Narrow Road and Gate

Your Destination is Death

Your Destination is Life

Surrounded By Many

Surrounded By Few

I Trust Human Achievement (MAN)

I Trust in Divine Accomplishment (JESUS)

Salvation is by Works

Salvation is by Grace Through Faith

Part of All Religion

Only By God's Revelation

I Was Born Following the Old Way

I Must Be Born Again to Follow New Way

Must Do Nothing to Get Here

Must Believe in Jesus Alone to Get Here

I Must Pay in Full for My Sins

My Sins Are Paid in Full by Jesus Christ

Keep All the Sacraments

1) Respond to God's Calling, 2) Believe in Jesus by Faith, 3) Regenerated by the Holy Spirit, 4) All Sins Forgive, 5) Eternal Life Given, 6) You Are Secure Forever In Christ

You're Promised Purgatory but In Reality, You Will Go to Hell

Promised Heaven, a Glorified Body, Living in the Presence of God for Eternity

What Are the Catholic's 7 Sacraments

Seven Roman Catholic Sacraments must be adhered to if you have any chance of going to purgatory. Remember, only Saints go to heaven. They are as follows:

1) Baptism, which the Roman Catholic Church teaches removes original sin while infusing the act with sanctifying grace.

2) Penance, in which one confesses sins to a priest.

3) The Eucharist is considered the reception and consumption of the actual body and blood of Christ.

4) Confirmation, a formal acceptance into the church along with a special anointing of the Holy Spirit.

5) Anointing of the sick, 6) Holy Orders, and 7) Matrimony.

Gospel of the Roman Catholic Church

The Pathway of the Roman Catholic Church is the Gospel of Religion and Merit (works). It is a man-made religion, not based on God's Holy Word. It starts with birth, born a sinner. Infant Baptism washes you clean and gives you a fresh start as a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Then, you must do all the sacraments above to cleanse you from venial sins. If you commit a mortal sin you must start over and a longer purging of sin is needed, you can lose your salvation and go to Hell. At death, Saints go to Heaven and everybody else goes to purgatory, a place where your remaining sins are burned off. It can be shortened by prayers and indulgences. Then off to Heaven, you go, or do you?

Why, Because the Catholic Jesus Does Not Purify All Sin

Roman Catholic Church Teaches Jesus Did Not Purify All Sins

"All who die in God's grace, but still imperfectly purified, are assured of salvation, but after death, they undergo purification through a purifying fire in purgatory, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter heaven" (ccc 1030-31)

What Does Scripture Say About Purification

"And He (Jesus) is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature (Father God) and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high" (Hebrews 1:3).
"(Jesus) who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, eager for good deeds" (Titus 2:14).
"but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).

Roman Catholic Path to Eternity

Roman Catholic Path to Eternity->Is Dependent on the Church Treasury In Heaven (ccc 1471-79)->Self Righteousness is Obtained Through Obedience->Born Unrighteousness, Void of Grace, Destined for Hell->Infant Water Baptism Makes You Righteousness and a Member of Catholic Church->Venial Sins Need Good Works, and Sacraments to Produce Merit or Infused Grace->the Best You Can Look Forward to in Purgatory->After a Certain Period of Time Being Purified You God To Heaven->If You Commit a Mortal Sin You Start Over in Unrighteousness->You Are In Real Danger of Going To Hell

The Biblical Path to Eternity->Born in Sin Unrighteous, Spiritually Dead, Going to Hell->Faith in Jesus Alone->Salvation (John 5:24)->No Condemnation (Romans 8:1)->Righteousness of God Imputed to You Through Justification->Process of Sanctification or Becoming Like Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:23)->It's a Free Gift, What God Begins He Finishes->Eternal Security (Romans 8:26-38) ->Heaven,

But REJECTING JESUS as the ONLY WAY, ONLY TRUTH, ONLY LIFE and HIS GOSPEL LEAVES YOU CONDEMNED to HELL not Purgatory, HELL.

Hell was created for the fallen angels but those who reject Jesus will go there also.
Hell or the Lake of Fire
"The one who rejects Me and does not accept My teachings has one who judges him: the word which I spoke. That will judge him on the last day" (John 12:48).
"The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who does not obey (believe) the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him” (John 3:36).

We All Have the Same Dilemma, We're Dead in Sin

Every human being, ethnic group, race, or gender finds themselves in this same dilemma. Therefore, there are three questions you would be wise to ask yourself and extremely prudent to answer.

  1. One, why do I need to be saved?

  2. Two, what does it mean for me to be saved?

  3. Three, how am I saved?

I believe Only Jesus plus nothing not only saves you but answers these three questions.
